Why do you blog?

Ahh, yes, one of the age old questions, if a writer writes in the ether and there is no-one there to read it, does it make a blog?  What came first the blogger or the blog?  How long is a piece of blog?  I guess the real message is, none of these questions are answerable.  I blog because I have a limited attention span and can't work for hours without a diversion.  I blog because I want somewhere to write.  I blog because I like communicating. I blog because people are inherently interesting.  I blog because its a bit of fun.  I blog because what the heck else would I do online?

How long have you been blogging?

I have been blogging since Feb '03, when I was on Xanga for a while, before I came here to the new fangly 20six, back when it was both new and fangly.  I was reading blogs for sometime before I ever started to write my own though, the first I read was Rachel's over at cre8d and also Joshua Claybourn's where I used to have silly amounts of fun getting into lengthy, very heated arguments with the resident neo-con fraternity, which was surprisingly fun.

Self portrait?

Haha. No.

Why do readers read your blog?

Readers read my blog for a variety of reasons, none of which seem to make a huge amount of sense, unless they are actually all playing a large practical joke on me which will end in much laughter and no more comments ever.  Maybe they're all bored, or maybe it's like Takeshi's Castle, cringe worthily bad, and yet some folks can't seem to turn off?  Who knows, but whatever happens, I shan't complain.

What was the last search phrase someone used to find your site?

I don't monitor them, but when I used to I had all manner of oddities, I'm not sure many people do google me though, I never get random comments anymore, but I remember one time Google picked up on my post about busted being on Band Aid, and I got loads of ghastly young busted fans telling me I was evil and disgusting and going to burn in eternal damnation forever for suggesting they were useless.  A few weeks later, they broke up.  I don't wanna sound like David Hasslehoff in Berlin circa 1989, but seriously, it can't be a coincidence, I made the difference there!

Which of the entries gets unjustly too little attention?

I don't know, I don't count, um, they all seem to get roughly the same.

Your current favourite blog?

Hmmm, I don't know if I have one at the moment, or rather, I have many, but none that distinguishes itself to be the creme.  Outside of my 20six and former 20six faves, I find Guido and The Sartorialist are good daily reads...

Which blog did you read most recently?

Purple

Which feeds do you subscribe to?

A collection of former '6ers, mainly...

Stoled from Kate and Katja

Where did you wake up this morning?

Wait, its meant to be morning when you wake up? Someone should have said.  Actually, it was still morning, I exagerate and I was in my nice comfy bed with the Sun streaming through the window.

When was the last time you cried?

I can't remember, sorry.

What was the last lie you told?

Oh, c'mon do you think I keep a journal of these things or something? *checks in lies and untruths journal*  Does saying I was "good friends with Steven Fry for a while until the puppies in the yard incident" count?   I mean, surely its not a lie if you don't intend anyone to believe it?

Apart from your home and car, what was the most expensive thing you've ever bought?

You know, I don't think I've ever really bought anything that exspensive.  I bought myself a laptop once, that was £999 so thats probably it.  I did it the lazy way and went with HP though.

When were you last naked in front of another person?

Gosh, now you're asking. When I was a very young child, in the bath.  I know, unbelievable, huh?  I generally keep my clotheses on in public, y'see, it's an odd tactic, but in truth its served me rather well.

What do you dislike most about yourself?

Hmmm, that I'm not all I think I could be.  But there is time yet, if I focus, life is a journey right.

What's been the most embarrassing moment of your life?

Oooh, hard to say, hard to say.  Christmas Karaoke dressed as Mrs Claus probably.  I was volunteered into it and too chicken to say no once it was done.  Altho on seeing how short the Mrs Claus dress was I did wimp and keep my trousers on, I got up infront of everyone, gulped and instead of singing started to shake and try to remember the words.  Good times. :P

Who did you last receive a text from and what did it say?

It was from a friend, and the contents is private, so ner.  Ok, ok, we can have it with blanks.  More ___ ______ by a ____ ______ woman __ shorts.

Have you ever been chatted up by another 20sixer?

Not in person.

If you were invisible for a day, what would you do?

I'd go in a cafe and everytime people turned around, move stuff, and pinch food.  Switch their cuttlery round, swap folks plates add pepper and such things.  I am that mature.

Stolen from the main lady Tan...

Tan couldn't find a decent questionaire so she theived this one from The Independent, then, fiend that I am, I thieved it from her...

I drive...
people to varying degrees of distraction.  Aside from that I don't drive a vehicle because of the exspense of learning to drive, passing tests and getting a car, and I figure, why do one if you can't do them all!  Anyway, my bike is trusty enough.

If I have time to myself...
I tend to go into one of the cities and look at galleries or shops or just generally chill around.  I like being out and about, its relaxing, watching the world go by.

You wouldn't know it but I'm very good at... hmmmm, certainly not answering questions about things I'm good at, thats for sure.  I'm very good at being rather average at things.

You may not know it but I'm no good at... remembering things, I try, I honestly try, but I just don't seem to be able to hold all the random stuff I seem to have too.

A book that changed me... at risk of sounding cliched, The Bible, in fact, I really don't care if it sounds cliched, not only is the Salvation thing life changing, but beyond that there is lots of wisdom for living by, and amazing life advice, has it changed me? yes.  will it change me more? yes.

Movie heaven... Give me lights out, a big glass of coke, popcorn, and some good company, and a classic movie, like Casablanca or To Catch a Thief.

Comfort eating... Comfort eating has to be the silliest thing ever, I don't eat just when I need comfort, I eat constantly, 24/7, food is my oyster, its so much more than something to seek comfort, its a way of life.  Chocolate is a biggy though, I need my supply!

When I was a child I wanted to be... I wanted to design cars, I used to do projects at home to design them, I even tried looking into engines and the like,I remember my naive self attempted to design a fission based unit. I'm not so sure this was a good idea, but it made sense at the time.  Oh, and one that recycled some of the toxins released after combustion and fed them through a device that added something to make them re-combustible.  Geez.  Such a NERD!

I wish I'd never worn... a few years back in Glasgow I emerged from Boss with a pair of casual trousers, I've worn them two or three times ever, and its more of a wish I never bought, they just seem to go with nothing! They're the wierest colour, I'm sure they didn't look that way in the shop!

All my money goes on...
quite a bit of debt payments, but aside from that I like my food and drink.

At night I dream of... a gentleman never dreams and tells.

My favourite building...  I love the architecture of NY, but having never beem I think my favourite building would have to be Chatsworth house, its an amazing place, magnificent on a scale that no one could even dream of anymore, its so grand, and so beautiful, and the waterfalls at the back? Mind blowing.  Modern wise, the Guggenhiem in Bilbao looks outstanding.  Gehry is a genius.

My favourite work of art...
At the moment I am still loving Sam Taylor-Woods suspended Self Portraits, they're really fab, they totally caught my imagination, made me stand back and say wow, and I think thats what art should do.  I also really like Violin and Guitar by Picasso.

It's not fashionable but I like...  politics.  It interests me, the way it works, the foibles, the tactics, the history, but most of all the fact that if they cut the crap, they could change things for the better, its sad really, as the cynic in me knows they won't ever achieve what good they could, yet the optimist vaguely hopes they'll achieve some of it.

If I wasn't me I'd like to be... I'm not one of those people who really thinks I want to be someone else, I have a lot in life, and while there are always things you want or don't want and things you're unhappy with or would change, I am who I am, and I don't want to be anyone else.

If pushed, I'd like to be Bill Gates, because he now finds himself with the foundation and more than $60bn to change the world, and that is just amazing.  I've never liked him until recently, but now he has this huge potential to change the lives of billions of people who would otherwise die, to impact people lives like that is something else.  Rock on, Gatesy.

DO ANY OF YOUR FRIENDS HAVE CHILDREN?
Yes

HAS ANYONE EVER CALLED YOU LAZY?

My boss.

DO YOU THINK PEOPLE TALK ABOUT YOU BEHIND YOUR BACK?

DID YOU WATCH CARTOONS AS A CHILD?
Well did I ever, what a swell party it was.

Nah, I don't think so.  People can do what they want, but tattoos aren't really my thing...

I did some rather boring work, then ranted about the intense burning mediocrity of the programmers who produced the work software, said lots of nasty things and gave up.

It varies, can function on 4 or 5, but I like 8.

ARE YOUR DAYS FULL AND FAST PACED?
Yes.  What you looking like that for? Of course its a lie, but its my blog and thus my perogative.

DO YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THE CALORIES ON THE PACKAGES?
Yes.  I refuse to eat anything labeled as 'low calorie' 'low fat' or 'diet' pah.  In the words of Hugh Grant, a man I never thought I would quote, "Get up off the floor, Divine." No, sorry, thats the wrong quote. I meant, when faced with low fat muffins "Yes, I'm sure they're perfectly good muffins, I want ones just like these, but with more fat in them"

Never.  It's the lowest form of wit and I would never stoop to that.

I do indeed, its good to like people.

WHY DID YOU DO THIS SURVEY?
'Cos it was something to do...
