Would the real Charles Saatchi please stand up?

The Saatchi Gallery

Alas, following an insane batch of writers block, I had decided not to post today... it would be the first time all month, then I read Kate's post for today, which isnt really a post, but a discussion of writers block... anyway, after seeking Kate's advice I am now going to post on the Saatchi Gallery.

Now I have to confess, this is a difficult task, as I no very little about Mr Saatchi, or his gallery. I know it is in County Hall, I know it has modern art in it. There we go that's my knowledge. I also know about that crazy naked people stunt at the opening... if 100 sweaty, naked bodies is now classed as art, then Newcastle Quayside on a saturday night must be the Cistine Chapel. Anyway, I digress, the Gallery contains, among others, the work of infamous "artist" Damien Hirst... and his fellow "artist" Tracey Emin... now dont get me wrong, I have nothing against the idea of getting paid for doing nothing, but these two take this to the extreme... Damien Hirst? I mean, how come my local butcher isnt so famous, he to chops up cows, and I have to say does a fantastic job of it... as for painting a Mini, well, you park your car in a shady area of town, you'll get some rather creative paint work, I'll tell you. Next up we have the infamous, the one, the only, Tracey Emin... all I can say is... why? Who couldnt mess up a bed.

So having covered two of the main "artists", and someone should cover their "art", lets get to the Gallery itself. Well County Hall is a nice building, its well situated and spacious, and contains such other things as Dali, The London Aquarium, and the Marriott Hotel, therefore it was probably a wise choice as it will get plenty of curious tourists. As for me, well, if he ever gets any real art in there, I would consider paying a visit, but at present no chance. And, it's not that I am thick thus cant 'get' this conceptual art... it's that its in the main, pants. I think they should give the space to people who can actually do stuff...

JoJo's husband is a really good painter, so let him and people like him have space in their instead.

Well, that was that topic, please remember, I've never been, so If I am wrong... dont blame me... educate me instead.
